I first wrote this riff in 2010 while sitting at tiguex park and thinking of bluegrass during the folk punk years. Ended up with this weird pentatonic thing. I've carried it around like a worn pair of shoes ever since. One time I played it on Spencer's podcast. Later on, his musical project Smoke and Mirrors introduced me to synth music and started me down the rabbit hole I'm in today. It seemed a fitting tribute to sample him for this track. Thanks Spencer.
